“When I started seeing Dr. Fineberg, he was very pleasant and spent as much time with me as I needed. Honestly, I trusted him with my life and knew he’d do a great job! He did surgery on my left shoulder and after a few months, I felt great! It’s awesome to be able to do things I was not able to do before the surgery.”

Dr. Marc S. Fineberg

Earlier this year, a patient who wished to be identified as C.F. shared her experience with shoulder care at UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. After living with the effects of a shoulder injury sustained in a 2009 car accident, C.F. sought treatment from Marc S. Fineberg, MD, FAAOS, and ultimately underwent rotator cuff surgery on her left shoulder.

In her mid-50’s, C.F. says her family always comes first in her life, and she is grateful to have “the most AMAZING friends a girl could ask for.” Having been on disability for over 16 years, being able to regain abilities that had become difficult or impossible was especially meaningful to her.

Following her procedure, C.F. continued her recovery with physical therapy from UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, and says the care and support she received helped her get back to doing things she was unable to do before surgery.

Here, she shares her experience with Dr. Fineberg, her surgery and rehabilitation, and what feeling better has meant for her:

How did your condition/injury occur and in what year?

My injury was caused by a car accident back in 2009.

What made you seek UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine for treatment?

I was referred by my PCP (primary care provider).

What was the diagnosis and recommended treatment?

I needed to have my rotator cuff scraped of some arthritis.

Can you tell us about the trust you built with your physician and the care you received?

When I started seeing Dr. Fineberg, he was very pleasant and spent as much time with me as I needed. Honestly, I trusted him with my life and knew he’d do a great job! He did surgery on my left shoulder and after a few months, I felt great! I would definitely and highly recommend seeing him! I thank him for being a great person and surgeon!

What was the best part of your experience with UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine?

I was welcomed by everyone that I came in contact with.

Can you describe your rehabilitation process?

After my surgery, I went to physical therapy with Jordan Bergmann, DPT, CSCS, and he was AMAZING also. Very knowledgeable and helped me with whatever I needed.

What are you doing now to actively prevent a recurring injury?

Being careful when I’m cleaning and doing odds and ends at home.

What does feeling better mean to you and your life?

It’s awesome to be able to do things I was not able to do before the surgery.

What advice do you have for those dealing with a similar injury?

Definitely go see Dr. Fineberg!! He’ll take very good care of you!
