About Our Physician Assistants
Physician assistants at UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine are a vital part of our medical care team and work directly with our doctors to provide comprehensive orthopaedic care for our patients.
As part of your overall care, physician assistants work as part of your medical team. They will obtain a history, perform a physical exam, order and interpret imaging and tests, diagnose conditions and injuries, and develop treatment plans. Physician assistants are licensed medical professionals who perform a broad range of duties in the office setting, hospital and urgent care environments.
Among their many duties, physician assistants may:
- Order and interpret imaging and lab tests
- Formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan
- Prescribe medication
- Prefrom injections, and other procedures
- Assist in surgery
- Apply splints, casts, etc.
