Expanding Access to Advanced Spine Care in Western New York
Western New York’s largest orthopaedics and sports medicine group, UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, is pleased to welcome fellowship-trained spine surgeon Christopher Lucasti, MD, to its growing team of orthopaedic specialists, further expanding access to advanced spine care for patients across Western New York and the surrounding region.

Dr. Lucasti specializes in the surgical treatment of spinal conditions, with emphasis on motion preservation, endoscopic spine surgery, complex spinal deformity and reconstruction, and spine trauma. He treats a wide range of spinal disorders, from degenerative conditions and herniated discs to scoliosis, spinal stenosis, fractures and other complex injuries. His goal is to help patients regain function, reduce pain and return to the activities that matter most to them.
A South Jersey native, Dr. Lucasti earned his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University at Buffalo, where he developed a strong foundation in patient-centered musculoskeletal care, before pursuing advanced fellowship training in spine surgery at Emory University — one of the nation’s premier spine programs.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Lucasti is committed to advancing the field of spine surgery through research, innovation and education. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and over 50 scientific abstracts, with research focused on improving patient outcomes and advancing evidence-based spine care. That commitment to research informs his approach to patient care, allowing him to bring a comprehensive, academically grounded perspective to the treatment of both routine and highly complex spinal conditions.
Dr. Lucasti’s professional affiliations include being a member of the North American Spine Society (NASS), AO Spine and the Cervical Spine Research Society (CSRS), in addition to being a guest reviewer for the International Journal of Spine Surgery and Global Spine Journal.
As part of UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, Dr. Lucasti will collaborate with an experienced team of orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, rehabilitation physicians, physical therapists and other expert providers to deliver comprehensive care to patients.

Dr. Lucasti will be seeing patients in Williamsville at the 716 Health Complex at 111 North Maplemere Road, with privileges at Erie County Medical Center and Kaleida Health.
