Lindsay R. Kosinski, MD

Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery

As a fellowship-trained Hand & Upper Extremity Orthopaedic Surgeon, I strive to work with my patients to restore function to their upper extremity and treat various conditions of the hand, wrist and elbow. I believe in putting the best interests of my patients at the forefront and working together with a comprehensive team to achieve a shared treatment goal.  I understand the significance of upper extremity limitations and the importance of helping my patients return to work, hobbies and activities. Additionally, I am passionate about continuing to educate myself and future physicians-in-training to provide the most up-to-date care for our patients. It is a privilege to practice in the community I grew up in, and I dedicate my career to compassionate, well-rounded care.

Philosophy

My passion for Orthopaedic Surgery has stemmed from the goal to help my patients return to a functional level, whether at work or in their hobbies and activities. We rely on our upper extremities to carry out important daily tasks, and I understand that each individual patient has specific needs and treatment goals.  I believe in patient-centered care and working as a comprehensive team with my patients and therapists to find a solution for their various upper extremity conditions.

The foundation of my practice is built around education. As a fellowship trained Hand & Upper Extremity surgeon, I value continued learning to maintain the highest standards of care and stay up to date with the latest innovations in treatment.  Additionally, I believe it is my duty to educate my patients on their conditions to allow for a better understanding of their pathology, the goals of treatment and how to get there.  I also thoroughly enjoy educating the future physicians of tomorrow to maintain the same standards of care I have set for myself and to give back to our field of medicine. Lastly, I have participated in two mission trips to Honduras in 2023 and have developed a passion for global outreach. I will continue to advocate for the most at-need patients and further develop outreach as I advance my career.

As a Buffalo native, it is a privilege to return home and practice in the community I grew up in.  I understand the significance of upper extremity limitations in daily life and dedicate my practice to effective communication, education, and well-rounded care for each and every patient.  I devote myself to the betterment of my patients, trainees, and the field of Orthopaedic Surgery, and to caring for the community that allowed me to build my career.

Bio

I am a proud Buffalo native, born and raised in West Seneca. I attended West Seneca West Senior High School and ran cross country and track and field, where I developed a passion for the sport of running.  This brought me to Northeastern University in Boston, MA for my undergraduate studies and to compete in 4 years of Division I cross country and track and field. I returned home to attend medical school at University at Buffalo’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.  I then completed my Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.  I went on to complete a year of Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship also at Brown University, and then an additional Hand, Upper Extremity and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado.

My various levels of training have not only fostered a passion for patient care and treatment of the upper extremity, but also in research and education.  I am proud to have received numerous Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Awards while a resident at Brown University, as well as several research awards and the House Staff Excellence Award as a Chief resident for an outstanding performance throughout residency.  I take pride in my interactions with patients, hospital staff, and medical trainees, and am deeply committed to the field of Orthopaedic Surgery as both a clinician and an educator.

Outside of my medical career, I lead a very active lifestyle and still enjoy running as well as hiking, cycling and spending as much time outdoors with my dog, Wilbur.  I am a lifelong Bills, Sabres, and Bandits fan and am thrilled to be back home to cheer them on. I look forward to building my practice in my hometown community and am grateful for the opportunity to care for each and every patient.
