Dr. John M. Marzo, clinical professor of orthopaedics at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, has announced that he will stop seeing patients at UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine effective Sept. 1, 2019, as he focuses full time on teaching and research.
“I have worked as a physician for the past 35 years and it has been extremely fulfilling,” said Marzo. “I chose orthopaedics because I saw the great impact that can be made in people’s lives by relieving pain and improving their function.”
In February 2018, Marzo decided to take a step back from pro sports and the operating room. The past 18 months that he has spent with more time for research and teaching made Marzo realize that he wanted to shift his focus and invest all of his time in it.
“It has been a pleasure to serve our patients and I am thankful for the support that the staff at UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine has given me,” added Marzo. “I am looking forward to what lies ahead and I am excited to continue to teach and innovate.”
Marzo specialized in sports medicine and orthopaedics at UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. With the change, he will now be listed as a specialist in education and research.
