Buffalo, NY – UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine expands its team with the addition of talented and highly trained orthopaedic surgeon, Evgeny A. Dyskin, MD, PhD.

Dr. Dyskin specializes in trauma surgery, adult joint replacement and reconstruction surgery, and general orthopaedics. He is the third addition to the UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine team this summer.

Dr. Dyskin, a native of Russia, chose a career in orthopaedics though the specialty was quite unpopular in his home country.

“I wanted to be a general surgeon,” he said. “Orthopaedics was not popular in Russia those days.”

Dr. Dyskin decided to take the nonconformist route and pursue a career in the field of orthopaedics, despite its barren reputation in Russia.

“I fell in love with the specialty from the very first moment,” he said. “I quickly realized it was the field where I was meant to be.”

Dr. Dyskin has an impressive list of educational credentials, which brings a new perspective to UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. Dr. Dyskin earned his doctor of medicine degree from Tver State Medical Academy in Tver, Russia. While practicing orthopaedics in Russia for a decade, Dr. Dyskin obtained his doctor of philosophy in “ultrasound and X-ray examinations of the shoulder joint with rotator cuff disorders”, along with several short term fellowships in Israel and Austria. He then decided to move to Buffalo, NY to pursue a fellowship in reconstructive surgery through the University at Buffalo’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Following this fellowship, Dr. Dyskin completed his residency in orthopaedics at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Dyskin completed a secondary fellowship in orthopaedic traumatology through the University of Minnesota’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery this past July.

Dr. Dyskin is back in Buffalo, and now accepting new patients at the UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine office located at ECMC.

When he’s not working, Dr. Dyskin enjoys spending time with his family, sports, reading, listening to rock and country music, and visiting Niagara Falls. He also enjoys visiting his hometown of Tula, Russia, and Salzburg, Austria.

Currently, UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine employs 36 orthopaedic and sports medicine physicians, and more than 250 employees in Buffalo, Amherst, Niagara Falls, and Orchard Park. Dr. Dyskin is the third surgeon joining UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine this year.
