Robert D. Galpin, M.D., FRCSC, a specialist in pediatric orthopaedics, scoliosis and sports medicine with UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, was recently featured in The Buffalo News for his work with a local third-grader.
The young girl, who was diagnosed with sickle cell disease as an infant, is seeing Galpin to help with bone lengthening in her right leg. Using a modern procedure that involves the use of magnets, Galpin’s work helps to grow her leg, which cannot naturally develop due to damage to the natural bone growth plate.
