Scott R. Darling, MD
Specialty: Primary Care Sport Medicine, UB Concussion Management Clinic
Practicing primary care sports medicine on a daily basis is both exciting and rewarding. Although some of my patients are athletes, many are not. I enjoy taking care of all different types of patients who may suffer concussions, fractured bones or sprained joints and have been doing so since my fellowship in 2007.
I am proud to be part of the UB Concussion Clinic and our numerous offices that provide comprehensive concussion care and management. We use an interdisciplinary approach to treating the patient that involves physical therapists, athletic trainers and neuropsychologists as well as physicians. This cutting-edge medical team also organizes a collaborative, city-wide concussion management focus group where ideas are exchanged. Here, many physicians as well as other medical professionals who treat concussions discuss the latest research topics and advances in concussion care. A recent research article of mine was published in the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine (CJSM), describing how the integration of an exercise treadmill test with computerized neuropsychological testing can best assess when an athlete is ready to return to sport. In this way, we can achieve our goal of returning an athlete his or her sport as quickly, yet as safely as possible.
From my personal athletic history, family medicine training, research experience and primary care sports medicine teaching position, I feel patients will undoubtedly receive the highest level of quality care they deserve for their orthopedic injuries.

"Thank you Tara Richards for your attentiveness in closely hearing out my health issues and deep concern or my well being. I am seeing results as the days go by with your recommendations on how to take care of my medical concerns. Physical therapy was the answer not drugs, and you immediately understood my cry or the right way to help me heal. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
"I appreciate the compassion Dr. Darling has always shown when I receive my injections."
"For over three years I went to various doctors to try to resolve my problem. No one was able to determine the cause much less a fix. I went to see Dr. Scott Darling and within 5 months not only was I correctly diagnosed but treatment prescribed by him has reduced my issue by 98%. I would definitely recommend Dr. Darling. He is caring, listens and answers questions and is very thorough in his testing to make sure his diagnosis is correct."
"I am a patient of Dr. Scott Darling. I have had an issue for over three years. I went to multiple Drs., had surgery, chiropractic, physical therapy, physiatrist, acupuncture all to no avail. I went to Dr. Darling and he sent me for a few tests to confirm what he believed to be the cause of my problem. He was correct and he sent me off for physical therapy to an amazing therapist, After three years I am finally free of my pain. I would suggest this Dr. to anyone who needs an orthopedic Dr. He is caring, and he listens."
I am not one to write testimonials; however, my experience with Dr. Darling at UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine was truly amazing. My daughter was diagnosed with a concussion and out of school for over 7 weeks. We started our recovery at a different neurology center and was put on strong medicine that I feel hurt her more than helped. My gut told me I needed to find a different doctor. After some diligent research and referrals from friends, we ended up seeing Dr. Darling. His thorough knowledge immediately put us on the right path. We started reducing her medicine and letting her participate in moderate activity. At every visit, goals were set and testing was done. We were able to see and talk about her recovery together. Numerous follow up calls were made by Dr. Darling himself! I would highly recommend Dr. Darling and his staff! It has made all the difference!
