When you call, you will be connected with one of our physician assistants who will consult with you and offer guidance, and help schedule an in-office visit or telemedicine appointment, if appropriate. If you are a current patient of UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and have already had various appointments and communication with our physicians and their offices, you are likely further along in your treatment and this service is probably not appropriate for you. This new phone line is not meant to replace any of our other services, but rather to supplement them. It is primarily intended for patients who have not yet been seen for the condition they are calling about. People who are not current patients of ours are especially encouraged to utilize this service.

Our phone consultation service operates 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you have an urgent injury outside of these hours, please call our main phone line at 716.204.3200 and follow the prompts for UB OrthoCare.

Yes, the initial phone consultation is free of charge and doesn’t require insurance. However, if you need a further appointment either in-office or via telemedicine at the completion of your consultation, one of our scheduling department members will call you back to set up an appointment. At this time, they will ask you for your insurance information.

No, you do not have to be a current patient. Anyone can call our consultation line and speak with one of our physicians regarding their orthopaedic concern.

Our telemedicine service is considered an alternative to an in-office appointment. Therefore, insurance information is required for a telemedicine appointment. Our consultation line is free of charge and is meant to answer an orthopaedic question. If someone’s issue happens to be more involved, the physician assistant may recommend scheduling a telemedicine or in-office appointment.
